The Academy periodically offers part-tuition scholarships to aspiring dog professionals. Scholarships are based on both merit and need. Prior experience working with or training/handling dogs is a plus, but we also reserve a number of scholarships for individuals with little or no experience who just love dogs.

Start an Exciting New Career as a Dog Professional

The "Certification Course in Canine Care" is authored and directed by current working professionals in the dog industry. The goal of the course is to educate and certify dog lovers so they can start dog-related careers. The course is 24 weeks long, with a workload of 5-10 hours/week (although it can be completed more quickly if desired). Only 2-3 hours/week are spent on “book work,” with the rest devoted to hands-on projects and practice.

We engage our students through personal mentoring, hands-on assignments, and business development exercises. Students also receive personalized hands-on training from our Field Trainers, who are located across the United States. Course topics covered include training theory and practice, basic grooming, setting up a dog-related business (e.g. daycare, obedience training, walking/sitting, behavioral consulting, etc.), dog psychology, etc.
